SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Springfield Cardinals, Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, have announced that their Sunday, August 30 game against the San Antonio Missions will be used as a monetary charity drive to aid ongoing earthquake relief efforts in La Guaira and Caracas, Venezuela.
Originally designated as Latin Heritage Day, the Cardinals will enhance the experience and now be selling tickets through a designated charity link (FOUND HERE). 100% of ticket proceeds purchased through that link will be donated to Convoy of Hope's Crisis Relief Fund, which is currently being used to assist those in need following two devastating earthquakes located near La Guaira and Caracas on June 24 of this year.
When purchasing tickets through this designated link, fans have the option to also donate additional funds when checking out with 100% of that money going directly to Convoy of Hope. Fans in attendance on Sunday, August 30 will have the opportunity to continue to donate funds throughout the game.
"The news of the two heartbreaking earthquakes back in late-June obviously shocked all of us here with the Cardinals," Springfield Cardinals Manager of Public Relations and Digital Marketing Steve Granado said. "Our franchise has had the pleasure of hosting numerous talented and wonderful ballplayers from Venezuela over our 22 year history. We wanted to use our platform and community to help assist the amazing humanitarian work that Convoy of Hope is doing in the hardest hit areas of the country."
The Springfield Cardinals will host Latin Heritage Day at Route 66 Stadium on Sunday, August 30 as they take on the San Antonio Missions at 1:15 PM. The game will be used as a vessel to celebrate the contributions of Latin players and staff to the Cardinals organization as Hispanic Heritage Month approaches and begins on September 15.
