Springfield outslugs Wichita, wins series 5-1

SPRINGFIELD, MO - The Springfield Cardinals defeated the Wichita Wind Surge 9-2 on Sunday evening, winning the six-game set five games to one. The Cardinals launched four home runs in the victory.

NOTES:

  • Jesús Báez, Rainiel Rodriguez, Won-Bin Cho and Tre Richardson III all went deep as Springfield's power surge continued. Báez has now homered in six of his last eight games, including back-to-back.
  • Rodriguez went 3-for-4, falling a triple shy of the cycle.
  • Braden Davis struck out seven batters across 3.2 innings. It's the ninth time this season he has struck out at least seven.
  • Springfield now holds a 3.0 game over the Tulsa Drillers in the second half and a 6.0 game lead over the Arkansas Travelers (the next potential playoff team).
