Jupiter snaps skids, beats St. Lucie 5-3

Tayman 3 for 4, triple shy of the cycle

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (September 3, 2026) – The Jupiter Hammerheads snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday night at Clover Park. The Mets three-game winning streak ended but they still lead the series 2-1.

Jupiter DH Echedry Vargas hit a two-out, two-run single off Camden Lohman in the seventh inning to give the Hammerheads a 4-3 lead.

The Mets got a runner to third base with no outs in the bottom of the seventh but Bruin Agbayani hit a comebacker to pitcher Manuel Genao, who threw out Vladi Gomez at the plate to preserve the lead. The Mets loaded the bases with one out in the inning but Genao got a shallow fly out from Kuhio Aloy then struck out Julio Zayas to escape the jam.

Genao had an easier bottom of the eighth by striking out the side.

The Hammerheads added an insurance run in the ninth when Jacob Lombard hit a two-out RBI double off Miguel Mejias to make it 5-3.

Genao finished off the game by getting a strikeout and a double play in the ninth. He was credited with a save.

Mets catcher Ryan Tayman had a big day by going 3 for 4 with a home run, double, single and two RBI. His RBI double in the first inning gave the Mets a 1-0 lead and his leadoff homer in the sixth put the Mets up 3-2.

Mets starter Nate Hall pitched 2.1 innings and gave up two hits on two runs with one walk and three strikeouts.

Owen Woodward pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief behind Hall.

Lohman took the loss. He was charged with two runs on four hits over 1.2 innings.

Jupiter starter Jake Clemente pitched 5.0 solid innings, giving up two runs on two hits. He walked three and struck out six. Clemente retired the last seven batters he faced.

The Mets (23-39, 56-72) and Hammerheads (24-36, 61-65) continue their series at Clover Park with game 4 on Friday. First pitch is 6:10 p.m. It’s Vets at the Mets with all veterans and active military receiving free admission courtesy of LYNQ Real Estate. Kids can run the bases after the game.
