PAPILLION, NE (July 31, 2026) - The St. Paul Saints couldn’t slow down the Omaha Storm Chasers offense early or late. The Saints gave up four runs in the first three innings and then six more over the final three innings as they fell 10-4 on Friday night at Werner Park.
Major League rehabber Kyle Isbel led off the bottom of the first for the Storm Chasers with a single to right and with one out scored on a double to left-center by Abraham Toro making it 1-0.
Two walks to lead off the second inning came back to burn the Saints. A groundout moved the runners up to second and third. Alejo Lopez’ RBI groundout and Isbel’s RBI single to left upped the Storm Chasers lead to 3-0.
The first two hitters got aboard for the Saints in the third as David Bañuelos led off with a walk and went to third on a double to right by Walker Jenkins. Kyler Fedko belted a two-run double to left getting the Saints to within 3-2.
For the third consecutive inning the leadoff man reached for the Storm Chasers as Toro singled to center. With two outs Brandon Drury singled to right-center that sent Toro to third and he scored when right fielder Matt Wallner bobbled the ball giving the Storm Chasers a 4-2 lead.
Four batters into the fourth and the Saints tied the game. Ben Ross led off with a walk, stole second and scored on a double to right-center by Cody Morissette cutting the deficit to 4-3. A double to left by Tanner Schobel put runners at second and third. A sacrifice fly by Bañuelos tied the game at four.
Garrett Acton continued his strong Major League rehab as he pitched a perfect fifth while striking out one. He threw 11 pitches, seven for strikes.
The latter three innings for the Saints were costly. The bottom of the order gave the Storm Chasers the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With one out Peyton Wilson doubled to left-center and scored on a two-out single to left by Lopez putting the Storm Chasers up 5-4.
The game was blown open in the seventh when the Storm Chasers sent nine men to the plate and scored four runs on six hits. The first three hitters all singled with Gavin Cross driving in a run to make it 6-4. Three straight RBI hits: a double by Wilson, a single from Luca Tresh, and a bunt single by Lopez, pushed the lead to 9-4.
The same two teams meet in game five of a six-game series at Werner Park on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. The Saints send RHP Ricky Castro (2-1, 4.20) to the mound against Storm Chasers RHP Henry Williams (2-2, 7.03). The game can be heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM presented by Northland Ford Dealers.
