PAPILLION, NE (September 6, 2026) - The best the St. Paul Saints have ever done away from CHS Field in their first five years as a Minnesota Twins Triple-A affiliate was a .500 record in 2023 when they went 37-37. After Sunday afternoon’s trouncing of the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park, 12-5, the Saints got their 38th win on the road and will assure themselves of their first winning record away from CHS Field in Triple-A franchise history.
The offense, which had scored just four runs in the last three games, woke up in a big way on Sunday. Eight of the nine starters collected a hit and scored a run, and seven of the nine collected an RBI. They scored a run in six of the first seven innings and pounded out 16 hits.
In the first inning the Saints nearly scored as many runs as they had in the previous three games. With one out Alan Roden singled to right-center and Aaron Sabato followed with a single to left, putting runners at first and second. Hendry Mendez lined a single into left, Brett Squires threw home and the ball skipped away from catcher Omar Hernández which allowed Roden to score, making it 1-0, as the other two runners moving up a base. Kala’i Rosario made it 2-0 with an RBI groundout to short and that was followed by an RBI single to center by Cody Morissette, his sixth straight game knocking in a run, upping the lead to 3-0.
Noah Cardenas led off the second for the Saints with a solo homer to left, his 13th of the season, making it 4-0. Back-to-back singles by Emmanuel Rodriguez and Roden put runners at the corners. With one out Mendez’ sacrifice fly increased the lead to 5-0.
Saints starter Ryan Gallagher was strong going 6.0 innings for just the second time this season. He had just two blips on the day with the first coming in the bottom of the second. Drew Waters led off with a ground rule double to right-center, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout from Jorge Alfaro cutting the Saints lead to 5-1.
The first three hitters loaded the bases for the Saints in the third when Morissette walked, Tristan Gray singled to right, and Tanner Schobel walked. Cardenas dropped an RBI single into left-center pushing the lead to 6-1. Cardenas was 2-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Rodriguez followed with a walk forcing in a run making it 7-1.
With two outs and nobody on the Storm Chasers grabbed a run. Drew Waters tripled to the gap in right-center and scored on a single to right by Jacob Berry narrowing the Saints lead to 7-2. Gallagher went 6.0 innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three.
The Saints returned the favor in the bottom half. With two outs and nobody on Cardenas was hit by a pitch, Rodriguez reached on an infield single to second, and Roden brought them all home with a three-run homer to right, his ninth of the season, upping the Saints lead to 10-2. Roden tied a career-high in hits going 4-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored.
Morissette added another RBI in the sixth. With one out Kala’i Rosario doubled down the left field line and scored on a Morissette single to right-center pushing the lead to 11-2. Morissette was 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
For the sixth time in the first seven innings the Saints scored a run. With one out Rodriguez singled to right, Roden followed with a single to left-center putting runners at the corners, and Sabato’s groundout played Rodriguez sending the Saints to a 12-2 lead. Rodriguez went 3-5 with an RBI, and three runs scored.
The Storm Chasers added two in the eighth when Alejo Lopez led off with a single to left and Carson Roccaforte followed that with a two-run homer to right, his fifth of the season, making it 12-4.
Alfaro led off the bottom of the ninth for the Storm Chasers with a home run to left, his first, making it 12-5, but the Saints finished it off to earn the series split.
The Saints are off on Monday and return to action on Tuesday night against the Syracuse Mets (New York Mets) in game one of a six-game series at CHS Field at 6:37 p.m. The Saints send RHP Ricky Castro (3-3, 5.77) and the Mets are TBA.
