STOCKTON, Calif. – Six games remain, and the Stockton Ports' playoff hopes are alive and well.
Stockton enters the final week of the 2026 regular season just one game behind the Fresno Grizzlies for the second and final playoff spot in the California League North Division.
San Jose has already secured its postseason berth, leaving Stockton and Fresno to battle for the final spot. The Ports travel to Visalia for six games against the Rawhide, while Fresno welcomes first-place San Jose for its final six.
There is one important catch: Fresno owns the tiebreaker. That means Stockton cannot simply tie the Grizzlies in the standings — the Ports must finish the season at least one game ahead of Fresno to advance.
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN?
With six games remaining, Stockton needs to gain two games on Fresno.
Here are the clearest paths:
- Stockton goes 6-0: Fresno must finish 4-2 or worse
- Stockton goes 5-1: Fresno must finish 3-3 or worse
- Stockton goes 4-2: Fresno must finish 2-4 or worse
- Stockton goes 3-3: Fresno must finish 1-5 or worse
- Stockton goes 2-4: Fresno must finish 0-6
- Stockton goes 1-5 or worse: Stockton is eliminated
The Ports control one part of the equation: taking care of business in Visalia and letting the rest unfold in Fresno.
Should Stockton find a way to jump the Grizzlies this week, it would secure the franchise's first postseason berth since 2018.
