Space Cowboys right-hander Alex Santos II has been named the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August as announced by the Houston Astros on Wednesday.
Santos made 10 combined appearances between Sugar Land and Double-A Corpus Christi and went 1-0 with a 0.68 ERA over 13.1 innings, allowing just one earned run with seven walks and 24 strikeouts. The 24-year-old earned his first career promotion to Triple A on August 22 and did not allow an earned run over four appearances, throwing 4.1 one-hit innings with three walks and six strikeouts in August with Sugar Land.
This is Santos’ first career Astros Pitcher of the Month honor. Originally selected in the second round of the 2020 Draft by Houston out of Mount St. Michael Academy, this season Santos has made 44 appearances in relief between Corpus Christi and Sugar Land, going 4-2 with a 3.15 ERA over 60.0 innings, going 3-for-5 in save chances with 36 walks and 93 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .216 batting average against. Among Astros’ minor leaguers in 2026, Santos is tied for fourth in appearances and eighth in strikeouts.
