The Sugar Land Space Cowboys have announced their team awards for the 2026 season. Infielder/outfielder Cavan Biggio has been recognized as the Team MVP, LHP Josh Hendrickson has been named the team’s Pitcher of the Year and RHP Roddery Muñoz has been honored as the team’s Reliever of the Year.

Biggio played the entire season with the Space Cowboys, slashing .230/.387/.415/.802 in 123 games with 14 doubles, six triples, 18 home runs, 64 RBI, 84 runs scored, 12 stolen bases and 104 walks. He led the Space Cowboys in games, hits (99), total bases (179), triples, RBI, runs, walks, at bats (431), sacrifice flies (7) and hit by pitch (11) and was tied for second on the club in home runs, tied for third in stolen bases and fourth in doubles. The 31-year-old played the most games at first base (48) and second base (50) for Sugar Land in 2026 while also logging time in left field (14), right field (5) and third base (3). He delivered three walk-off victories for the Space Cowboys, tied for the second-most among player in Minor League Baseball and the most of any player in the Pacific Coast League in 2026.

Biggio set a new franchise record for walks in a single season with his 104 free passes, surpassing David Hensley’s 80 in 2022. He joined James Tibbs III of OKC as the first players since 2014 to draw at least 100 walks in a season in the Pacific Coast League and joined INF Xavier Neyens (116) as one of just five Astros Minor Leaguers since 2000 to draw at least 100 walks in a season (others - Jon Singleton, 107 in 2017; Nolan Fontana, 102 in 2013; Jon Topolski, 105 in 2000). Signed as a minor league free agent by the Astros on February 15, 2026, Biggio concluded the season second in the Pacific Coast League in walks, tied for sixth in triples and tied for ninth in home runs.

Hendrickson signed with the Astros as a minor league free agent on April 18, 2026 and became a mainstay of the Space Cowboys’ rotation, going 9-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 23 outings, 19 starts, while logging 113.2 innings with 27 walks and 106 strikeouts. The Australian led the Space Cowboys’ pitching staff in wins, starts, innings pitched, strikeouts and ground ball double plays (9). Sugar Land went 11-8 in games started by the lefty including winning nine of his 10 starts from May 2 to August 4.

In his first season in the Pacific Coast League, Hendrickson finished fourth in the circuit in strikeouts and tied for fourth in victories. Though he did not pitch enough innings to qualify, among PCL hurlers that threw at least 70.0 innings, Hendrickson had the highest strikeout-to-walk percentage (16.4), the fourth lowest walks-per-nine (2.14) and the fourth lowest WHIP (1.30). He became just the fourth Space Cowboys’ pitcher to collect at least nine victories in a season (others – RHP AJ Blubaugh, 12 in 2024; RHP Hunter Brown, 9 in 2022; RHP Logan VanWey, 9 in 2024) and his 106 punchouts are the ninth most in a single season in franchise history. Hendrickson was recognized as the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week once during the season and had his contract selected by the Astros on September 23, making his Major League debut that same night before also making the Astros’ postseason roster.

Muñoz anchored the backend of the Space Cowboys’ bullpen in 2026, going 4-5 with a 3.06 ERA in 53 outings with 12 saves in 14 chances over 53.0 innings, walking only 21 batters while striking out 76 and holding opponents to a .192 batting average against. He led the Space Cowboys in appearances, saves and innings pitched among relievers while also finishing third on the team in strikeouts, trailing only Hendrickson and RHP Miguel Ullola (90). The 26-year-old finished tied for the Pacific Coast League lead in saves and tied for ninth among all minor league pitchers in saves in 2026 while also finishing tied for sixth in appearances in MiLB.

His 3.06 ERA was the second lowest in the Pacific Coast League for any pitchers that threw at least 50.0 innings, while Muñoz had the highest K/9 rate (12.91) in that category, the highest swinging strike percentage (15.7%) and third lowest average against, behind only RHP Michel Otañez of Round Rock (.174) and fellow Space Cowboys’ righty Logan VanWey (.189). After registering his second blown save of the season on May 10, Muñoz converted each of his final 11 save chances, including going 4-for-4 in save chances in July before going 5-for-5 in save chances in August while allowing just one run over 8.1 innings of work. He had two different 10-outing streaks in which he did not allow an earned run, first from June 12 to July 17 and then again from August 20 to September 13, making him the lone pitcher in the Pacific Coast League in 2026 to have two different streaks of 10 or more games without allowing an earned run. For his efforts, Muñoz was also recognized as a Pacific Coast League All-Star as a reliever, one of two relievers selected to the PCL All-Star Team.
