Syracuse, NY — The Syracuse Mets' 2026 season came to an end in a loss to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 5-4, in 11 innings on Sunday at NBT Bank Stadium.
Syracuse (43-31, 81-68) jumped ahead in the second inning when Billy Amick doubled and Jose Ramos followed with a two-run home run to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Lehigh Valley (33-41, 68-81) answered in the fourth with back-to-back home runs from Colby Thomas and Raider Tello, tying the game at 2-2. The score remained tied until the seventh, when Jose Ramos singled and Zack Short followed with a single before Christian Cairo brought Ramos home with an RBI single to put Syracuse ahead 3-2.
The IronPigs tied the game in the eighth. Wuilfredo Antunez tripled to lead off the inning and scored on Otto Kemp’s sacrifice fly, making it 3-3.
Neither team scored in the ninth or 10th innings, sending the game to the 11th. Lehigh Valley took the lead when Antunez started the inning at second and scored on Kemp’s RBI single. Paul McIntosh followed with an RBI double to extend the IronPigs’ advantage to 5-3.
Syracuse cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the 11th. Jose Ramos started the inning at second before Zack Short walked and Christian Cairo singled to load the bases. D’Andre Smith’s forceout brought Ramos home, but the Mets could not complete the comeback.
Ramos finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a. home run, and three run scored. Cairo collected two hits and an RBI.
Xzavion Curry worked two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one. Saul Garcia allowed two runs on two hits over two innings, while Kevin Herget worked one scoreless inning. Dylan Ross pitched two clean innings, and Cameron Weston allowed a run in two scoreless innings. Brian Metoyer allowed two runs in one inning and a third, and Tyler McLoughlin made his Triple-A debut in the 11th.
Syracuse ends its season with an 81-68 record, a 43-31 second half record, and finished 29-11 over the final 40 games. The 81-68 overall record is the most wins Syracuse has had since becoming the Mets affiliate in 2019. Syracuse eclipsed the 80-win mark for the third time since 1989.
Syracuse's 2027 season begins on March 26 at Rochester. The Mets return to NBT Bank Stadium on March 30 vs. Columbus.
