
TACOMA, WA (July 7, 2026) – The Seattle Mariners promoted two of their top prospects to Tacoma on Tuesday, sending OF Lazaro Montes (MLB Pipeline's No. 3 Mariners prospect and No. 26 overall prospect) and INF/OF Michael Arroyo (MLB Pipeline’s No. 4 Mariners prospect and No. 43 overall prospect) for their Triple-A debuts.
Montes, 21, hit .234 with 11 doubles, one triple and 25 home runs, driving in 66 in 79 games with Double-A Arkansas this season. His 25 home runs are the fourth-most in the minor leagues this year. Montes had a monster 2025 season, where he was an All-Star Futures Game selection, the Northwest League MVP with High-A Everett and the Mariners Ken Griffey Jr. Minor League Hitter of the Year. Splitting the season with Everett and Arkansas, Montes finished the 2025 season with a career-high 32 home runs, the third-most in the minor leagues. Montes was originally signed by the Mariners as an international free agent on January 15, 2022, out of Havana, Cuba.
Arroyo, 21, played in 65 games with the Travelers this season, hitting .287 with 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 40 RBI. In 2025, Arroyo was named a Northwest League Postseason All-Star with High-A Everett, splitting the season between the AquaSox and the Arkansas Travelers. Across a combined 121 games between the two teams, Arroyo hit .262 with 24 doubles, one triple and 17 home runs. Arroyo was also hit by a pitch 36 times in 2025, leading all minor league hitters.
Montes, Arroyo and the Rainiers return home to Cheney Stadium after the All-Star Break on Friday, July 19, to open a three-game series with Oklahoma City. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
