TAMPA, Fla — The Tampa Tarpons (42-20) fell to the Dunedin Blue Jays (32-30) during Saturday night’s contest, 6-2. Their first time losing two straight at home since July 9th.
Dunedin opened the scoring in the top of the first with a pair of home runs to jump in front 3-0. The Tarpons quickly responded in the bottom half. Anthony Potestio came through with a bases loaded RBI single to score Dax Kilby. Then with two outs, Luis Puello lined an RBI single into left field cutting the Blue Jay lead to one.
Dunedin sprinkled runs across to reinforce their lead. A solo homer in the fourth, an RBI double in the seventh, and an RBI groundout in the top of the eighth made the visitor’s advantage swell to 6-2.
Josh Tiedeman turned in a scoreless ninth inning to keep the deficit at four heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Unfortunately, Tampa went down quietly in the ninth, dropping this one 6-2.
The Tarpons and Blue Jays will square off tomorrow for the regular season finale with first pitch scheduled for 12:00PM at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
