Tulsa, OK – Starting pitcher Adam Serwinowski has been a workhorse for the Tulsa Drillers this season, entering Tuesday’s start leading the team in innings pitched. In his 25th start of the year, to open the final home stand at ONEOK Field, Serwinowski reached another impressive feat as he matched the longest start by a Tulsa pitcher this season and held the Wichita Wind Surge to only two runs in leading the Drillers to a 3-2 victory.
The victory was extra special because it was a record breaker. It was the 79th of the season for the Drillers, which is the most wins in a single season in franchise history. This year marks the 49th season of play for the Drillers, and they have 11 games remaining in the regular season to add to the record.
The two teams began the night by trading solo home runs. Wichita’s Brandon Winokur produced the first homer in the opening inning when he hit a ball onto the left field berm off Serwinowski.
One inning later, Logan Wagner returned the favor by hitting a home run to center field that tie the game at 1-1.
Wichita first baseman Jaime Ferrer broke the tie in the fifth inning when he also hit a solo home run.
The Drillers evened game again in the sixth inning when Jake Gelof doubled to left field and the speedy Kole Myers scored from first base. Wagner gave Tulsa the lead later in the inning when he singled to right, scoring Gelof to put the Drillers in front 3-2.
The one-run lead was enough for Tulsa pitching. Serwinowski did not allow another run as he completed eight innings while giving up just the two runs on four hits and no walks with six strikeouts and 93 pitches thrown.
He matched Payton Martin for the longest start by a Tulsa pitcher in 2026. It was also the third time this season that Serwinowski has not allowed a walk.
Carson Hobbs entered to pitch the final inning and retired the Wind Surge to record his third save this season and his sixth across two seasons with the Drillers.
GAME NOTES
*Serwinowski’s six strikeouts gave him 146 for the season, which leads the Texas League. In 2025, he led the Midwest League in strikeouts with 136. The left-hander also pitched his seventh quality start this season, which leads the Drillers.
*The 146 strikeouts for Serwinowski are the fourth most ever for a Drillers pitcher, just one strikeout behind third-place Jeff Francis who had 147 in the 2004 season.
*The second-inning homer for Wagner was his third this season for the Drillers. He now has 19 home runs combined between Tulsa and High-A team Great Lakes.
*As a team, the Drillers have hit 180 home runs, which is tied with Somerset for the most in Double A.
*Tulsa stole two more bases on Tuesday and now had recorded 192 this season. The last Drillers team to steal over 190 bases was the 1986 squad which finished with 191 stolen bags.
*De Paula finished without a hit, leaving him with 99 RBI. He needs one more RBI to become just the second Drillers player to have 100 runs scored and 100 RBI in the same season.
*Gelof’s RBI double in the sixth increased his hitting streak to nine straight games.
*The victory was also another for the Drillers in the Coors Light Propeller Series. Tulsa now has a 15-4 record against Wichita this season clinching the Propeller Trophy for the fourth time in the six seasons of the series.
