EVERETT, WA – A breakout performance from 2026 draftee Bryce Chance and a pair of big innings made the Canadians 11-8 winners over the Everett AquaSox (SEA) Saturday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.
The game started with a bang. Newcomer Ty Southisene tripled to lead-off the first then Jake Casey bashed a two-run homer to put the C’s in front before an out was recorded.
That lead would hold until there were two outs in the bottom of the third. After #3 Blue Jays prospect Johnny King issued two walks in the frame – including one with two outs – Northwest League home run leader Brandon Eike made him pay with a go-ahead three-run homer for his 23rd of the season.
Staggered but not on the mat, the C’s answered with a punch of their own in the top of the fourth. Austin Smith went deep for the second consecutive night to tie the score then Chance stepped up with runners at the corners and two outs and drove in the go-ahead tally with a single. Southisene followed with another RBI hit to make it 5-3 Vancouver.
Everett did more damage in a four-run fourth to go up 7-5 and stayed in front until the sixth. That inning began with Maddox Latta’s fourth home run of the season to pull the Canadians within a run and continued with singles from Raimundo De Los Santos and Jaxson West before Chance hit a double that tied the game 7-7. Three batters later, Peyton Williams uncorked his third bomb of the week to drive in three and run the score to 10-7.
Chance would contribute an insurance run in the seventh. His two-out base hit came with runners at first and second to collect his third RBI of the night and put the C’s ahead 11-7.
The Frogs mustered one run against Colby Holcombe in the eighth but the right-hander was otherwise solid in two innings of work then Jack Eshleman (S, 2) stranded two runners on base in the ninth to lock down the victory.
Reece Wissinger (W, 4-2) did yeoman’s work from the fourth through the sixth, scattering three hits, a walk and three Ks to keep the game within striking distance.
With the win, the Canadians can earn their second six-game series victory of the season in the finale Sunday afternoon. #6 Blue Jays prospect Dasan Hill makes his first start since coming over from Minnesota in the Jeff Hoffman deal opposite Everett’s Walter Ford. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. on the C’s Broadcast Network.
