Fresno, CA – Dean Livingston pitched five excellent innings as the Visalia Rawhide (43-64, 15-26) won their third game of the week over the Fresno Grizzlies (59-48, 23-18) 4-1 on Saturday evening at Chukchansi Park.
Livingston twirled five innings allowing just four hits and one run with three strikeouts and no walks. He faced the minimum through the first four innings including retiring 11 batters in a row. The D-backs No. 12 prospect earns his third win of the season and now holds a 3.58 ERA in 11 Rawhide starts.
The Rawhide bullpen closed out the win. Raul Garayzar pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts and allowed just two hits. Julien Hernandez earned his first Rawhide save without allowing a run in the ninth.
Visalia opened the scoring in the third. Yerald Nin led off with a double to center field and stole third base. Ivan Luciano then batted a ball up the middle that hit off Fresno’s second baseman’s glove and into center field to score Nin. The play was ruled an error.
Two batters later Pedro Blanco blasted a two run homer to right 426 feet that cleared the Rawhide team bus. Blanco has now hit 14 home runs on the season, the most for any Rawhide player since Gavin Conticello’s 15 in 2023.
Fresno scored their lone run on a fielders’ choice in the fifth. The Rawhide added a tally back in the eight as Eliesbert Alejos was hit by a pitch, Adriel Radney singled to advance the runner to third and a double play scored the run.
Nin, Blanco and Radney all finished with two hits to lead Visalia.
The Rawhide now lead the week’s series 3-2 and can win their first ever series at Chukchansi Park with a win on Sunday evening.
