Arkansas erupts in top of 10th for comeback victory
The Wichita Wind Surge (26-28) dropped game three of the series to the Arkansas Travelers (22-32) Thursday night at Equity Bank Park, falling 8-4 in ten innings.
Wichita carried a 3-1 lead into the top of the eighth inning, but Arkansas scored seven unanswered runs to take the lead and held on for the extra innings win.
The Surge received strong pitching performances from Ty Langenberg and Spencer Bengard, and Brandon Winokur hit his ninth home run of the season, but it was not enough to withstand the late Arkansas onslaught.
The Rundown:
Ty Langenberg got the start for Wichita, and retired the first nine hitters he faced.
The Surge got on the board in the bottom of the third on a two out, two run homer from Brandon Winokur, his ninth of the season at AA and 19th overall.
Arkansas responded with a run in the top of the fourth on a single by Boston Smith.
Wichita added an insurance run in the seventh on a RBI double by Quinn McDaniel to make it 3-1, but Arkansas rallied to tie the game in the top of the eighth courtesy of a RBI double by Charlie Pagliarini and a passed ball.
In extra innings, Arkansas broke the game open, striking for five runs in the top of the tenth.
Wichita pulled one back on a RBI single from Winokur in the bottom of the tenth, but could not draw any closer.

- The Wind Surge hit their 169th home run of the season and are two home runs from breaking the franchise record of 171.
