WILSON, N.C. – Minor League Baseball has announced that Wilson Warbirds outfielder Brailyn Antunez has been named the Carolina League Player of the Month for August, becoming the first player in franchise history to earn the league's monthly honor.
Antunez is coming off a month in which he batted .372/.465/.628 and led the Carolina League in hits (32) and total bases (54). Additionally, Antunez was second on the circuit in home runs (five) and third in average (.372) and runs (21) and slugging percentage (.628) and was fifth in on-base percentage (.465), OPS (1.093) while also collecting 13 multi-hit games.
Signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as an international free agent on January 15, 2026, out of Maracaibo, Venezuela, Antunez opened the season in the Arizona Complex League before being assigned to Wilson on July 24.
Since joining the Warbirds, Antunez has continued to make an immediate impact, batting .355 with seven home runs and 30 RBI. Since his promotion to Wilson, he leads the Carolina League in RBI while ranking second in both batting average and home runs.
Antunez is currently ranked as the No. 27 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers organization by MLB Pipeline.
The Player of the Month honor marks the fourth overall weekly or monthly recognition earned by a Warbirds player during the club's inaugural season. Antunez joins Brady Ebel and Handelfry Encarnacion, who were each named Carolina League Player of the Week, and Jarrette Bonet, who was named the Brewers' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April.
Wilson will continue its final series of the inaugural season tonight in Fredericksburg. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
