FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The Wilson Warbirds allowed four runs in the seventh inning, dropping their third straight to Fredericksburg, 7-3, on Thursday night at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
Wilson (64-63, 28-33 second half) again started on the right foot, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Rylan Mills hit his third homer of the week, a two-run shot, to give the Warbirds an early advantage.
Fredericksburg (77-51, 31-31 second half) cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning as Cashel Dugger doubled in a run.
The Nationals took the lead in the bottom of the fourth as Christian Vaquero tied the game with a triple and then came in to score on a wild pitch, giving his team a 3-2 lead.
A Moises Polanco single in the sixth inning tied the game for the Warbirds at three, but the lead did not last long.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, Diustin Mayorquin (L, 3-3) walked in a pair of Nationals runners as Fredericksburg took a 5-3 lead. Dashyll Tejeda provided the big blow with a two-run single to put the FredNats ahead 7-3.
Cooper Carlgren (W, 1-0) held things down on the mound to earn his first professional win.
Wilson and Fredericksburg meet again on Friday at 6:35 p.m. RHP Dariel Jaquez (0-0, 0.00) will make his first start for Wilson against RHP Leuris Portorreal (3-3, 4.96).
