Warbirds Shutout on Friday Night

Wilson Manages only three hits in loss

LYNCHBURG, V.A – The Hill City Howlers pushed across two runs in the second inning and made that hold up as they downed the Wilson Warbirds 2-0 on Friday night at City Stadium.

Hill City (45-61, 14-26 second half) pushed across the only runs of the game in the second inning against Joey Broughton (L, 0-3) when Pedro Dalmagro lined a base hit to right to plate Gabriel Rodriguez and give the Howlers a 1-0 advantage.

Later in the frame, Yerlin Luis grounded into a double play but that did allow another run to cross and extend the lead to 2-0.

Wilson (54-49, 18-19 second half) managed only three hits in the game and finished the contest 0-for-5 with Runners In Scoring Position.

Ryan Prager (W, 4-3) scattered just three hits with nine strikeouts and walked only one over his 6.2 innings to earn the victory for the Howlers.

Evan Chrest (S, 3) covered the final 2.1 innings to earn the save and seal the 2-0 victory.

The series continues Saturday night with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m. Wilson hands the ball to right hander Hayden Robinson (3-4, 4.95) while Hill City counters with southpaw Ryan DeSanto (3-1, 3.28).
