May 21st, 2026

he Winston-Salem Dash (25-16) turned one inning into an avalanche on Tuesday night, erupting for 11 runs in the third inning and rolling past the Greensboro Grasshoppers (25-16), 19-8.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third, Winston-Salem completely flipped the game in a frame that seemed to never end.

The Dash sent 16 batters to the plate and piled up nine hits in the inning. Alex Ungar launched a three-run home run, George Wolkow added a three-run triple, and RBI knocks from Ryan Burrowes, Kaleb Freeman, and Kyle Lodise helped Winston-Salem explode for a 12-2 advantage.

The offensive surge backed a relentless night at the plate for the Dash lineup. For the Dash, it was the most runs scored and most hits in a frame in franchise history.

Lodise homered and collected four hits, while Wolkow finished with two doubles, a triple, and six RBIs. Ungar added four RBIs of his own, and Burrowes recorded four hits in the victory.

Greensboro attempted to answer throughout the night. Home runs from Axiel Plaz and Yordany De Los Santos helped keep the Grasshoppers within striking distance early, but Winston-Salem continued to respond.

The Dash added another run in the fourth, one more in the fifth, and broke the game open again in the seventh with five additional runs behind RBI hits from Wolkow, T.J. McCants, Lodise, and Boston Smith.

By the end of the night, Winston-Salem had totaled 19 runs on 21 hits in one of its biggest offensive performances of the season.

Despite allowing eight runs, Dash pitching limited Greensboro from delivering a true comeback push after the explosive third inning created separation early.

The Dash will go for seven straight wins when they see Greensboro Thursday, May 21.
