LaRoche, Nats can get All-Star help on Twitter

MIAMI -- It's that time again in Washington. That's right -- it's an election year, and Adam LaRoche and plenty of other Nats candidates are going to need fan votes to make it to Kansas City for this year's Midsummer Classic.

LaRoche has done it all at first for the Nats this season while also batting cleanup in place of the injured Michael Morse -- who is also on the ballot. LaRoche leads Washington with 35 RBIs and eight round-trippers while batting .282. He is among the National League leaders in walks (27) and RBIs, making his case for a trip to Kauffman Stadium.

Looking to join LaRoche are seven other Nats on the ballot -- though two are on the disabled list -- as well as rookies Bryce Harper and Steve Lombardozzi, who have been electric at the top of Washington's order this season, and are vying for a trip to the All-Star Game via write-in votes from the fans.

Lombardozzi is hitting .313 with a .376 on-base percentage while batting leadoff, while Harper has captivated fans since being called up on April 28 and had a nine-game hitting streak entering Wednesday.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times at and all 30 club sites -- online or via mobile device -- using the 2012 All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 28, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Fans can also once again participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby Fan Poll, and will have the opportunity to select three players in each league who they would most like to see participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby. The 2012 State Farm Home Run Derby -- part of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day -- will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio in the United States beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, July 9.

The 2012 American League and National League All-Star teams will be unveiled on Sunday, July 1, on the 2012 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show, televised nationally on TBS. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2012 All-Star Game Final Vote on

And the voting doesn't end there. The final phase of All-Star Game voting will again have fans participating in the official voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. During the Midsummer Classic, fans will vote exclusively online at via the 2012 All-Star Game MVP Vote, and their voice will represent 20 percent of the official vote determining the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.
