Haren feels good, ready for bullpen session

NEW YORK -- Nationals right-hander Dan Haren, who is on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder inflammation, played long toss Thursday and Friday without any problems and will have a bullpen session Saturday at Citi Field.

Haren hopes to be pitching for the Nationals when his time on the DL is up in 10 days.

"I feel good, obviously, just from rest," Haren said. "Throwing really wasn't the issue for me. When I went on the DL, it was more precautionary, lack of execution on my part. I'm just getting back to being 100 percent. Obviously, pitching wasn't working for me where I was. I took some time off, I took some medicine. I feel really good now. I'm excited, obviously, to throw a bullpen [session] and stuff."

Before going on the disabled list, Haren was having his worst season in the big leagues, going 4-9 with a 6.15 ERA in 15 starts.
