Moore hoping to make an impression with Nats

CHICAGO -- Outfielder Tyler Moore is looking to finish the season strong after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Aug. 17.

Moore -- who posted a .263/.327/.513 line with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 156 at-bats in 2012 -- began the 2013 season with the Nationals, but struggled, hitting .151 before being sent down on July 8.

Moore performed well for Syracuse, posting a .318/.395/.584 line in 45 games with 10 homers and 46 RBIs. He said the difference was that he got his timing back, something he struggled with as a result of limited plate appearances early in the season with the Nationals.

"I was fortunate to go down to Triple-A and find everything," Moore said. "I was able to get back in the groove … it was more of a timing thing. I was just starting late all year, and then once you get some at-bats you kind of figure that out and say, 'OK, that was the problem.' So it's good. I found it and I'm blessed to be back up here."

Moore was in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Cubs. He also started on Tuesday and went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth inning. He had two hits in his return on Saturday.

"[I] just want to finish strong," Moore said. "I just wanted to come back up here, and I've been getting a little more playing time, so it's been good."

Moore went 2-for-5 with a run in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Cubs in 13 innings.
