Jordan keeping busy after being shut down

WASHINGTON -- Taylor Jordan's season came to an end on Aug. 16 after pitching six solid innings against the Braves.

Jordan was on an innings limit after having Tommy John surgery in 2011. He pitched a combined 142 innings in the Major and Minor Leagues, won 10 games and had a 1.96 ERA.

"It's a little different," Jordan said. "But I haven't pitched a full season in my career, so it's not that different. I would like to be pitching right now, but I know why I'm not."

Even though he is out for the rest of the season, Jordan is keeping busy. He is lifting weights, and while he is not having bullpen sessions or throwing off the mound, Jordan is doing some long tossing.

Teammates Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann, who both had Tommy John surgery, told Jordan to keep throwing in order to be ready for next season.

Jordan's biggest goal is to start next year with the big league team and pitch a full season for the first time in his professional baseball career.
