Nationals reinstate right-handed pitcher Brandon Kintzler

The Washington Nationals returned from rehab and reinstated right-handed pitcher Brandon Kintzler from the 10-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Jefry Rodriguez to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Washington Nationals returned from rehab and reinstated right-handed pitcher Brandon Kintzler from the 10-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Jefry Rodriguez to Triple-A Syracuse. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Kintzler, 33, returns to the active roster after missing 12 games with a right forearm flexor strain. He appeared in 31 of Washington's 64 games prior to being placed on the disabled list. On the season, Kintzler is 1-2 with two saves, 13 holds and a 4.45 ERA in 31 games. He has struck out 21 batters, walked 12 and has allowed just one home run. Kintzler's team-leading 13 holds this season rank tied for eighth among National League relievers.
Rodriguez, 24, made his first Major League start on June 19 vs. Baltimore. In two starts for the Nationals he went 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, tossing 9.0 innings while striking out nine and allowing nine earned runs on nine hits while walking six batters.
