Washington Nationals recall Josh Rogers

April 11th, 2022

The Washington Nationals recalled left-handed pitcher Josh Rogers from Triple-A Rochester and placed right-handed pitcher Aníbal Sánchez on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to April 8) with a cervical nerve impingement on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Rogers, 27, joins the Nationals after being optioned to Triple-A Rochester at the end of Spring Training. He did not make a start for the Red Wings prior to this recall.

Rogers went 2-2 with a 3.28 ERA in six games (six starts) with the Nationals in 2021. He signed with the Nationals as a Minor League free agent on June 4 and had his contract selected by Washington on Sept. 4. He made the start that night against New York (NL) and earned the win. Rogers pitched to a 2.16 ERA (6 ER/25.0 IP) in his first four starts with the Nationals and allowed three earned runs or less in five of his six Major League starts.

Sánchez, 38, did not appear in a game prior to being placed on the Injured List.
