Brewers Acquire First Baseman Adam Lind from the Blue Jays

Send Pitcher Marco Estrada To Toronto

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired first baseman Adam Lind from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Marco Estrada. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Doug Melvin.

"Adam brings us a productive left-handed bat at a position of need with the ability to hit in the middle of the order," said Melvin.

Lind, 31, batted .321 with 6 HR and 40 RBI in 96 games this season. He made 79 starts (43g at 1B, 36g at DH). He has spent his entire nine-year Major League career (2006-14) with Toronto, batting .273 with 146 HR and 519 RBI in 953 games. His best season came in 2009 when he batted .305 with 35 HR and 114 RBI in 151 games, earning a Silver Slugger Award (DH).

Estrada, 31, went 7-6 with a 4.36 ERA in 39 appearances this season, including 18 starts. He spent five seasons (2010-14) in a Brewers uniform and went 23-25 with a 4.11 ERA in 139 games (70 starts). Estrada is eligible for arbitration.

"Marco performed well for us with his versatility to start or pitch out of the bullpen," said Melvin.
