Rockies add LHP Tyler Anderson to 40-man roster

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has added left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson to their 40-man roster. To make room for Anderson, the Rockies designated right-handed pitcher Juan Nicasio for assignment. 

Anderson, 24, was originally selected by the Rockies in the first round (20th overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Oregon. The 6-foot-4 left-hander spent the 2014 season at Double-A Tulsa where he was named a Texas League All-Star and the league's Pitcher of the Year. In 2014, Anderson went 7-4 with a 1.98 ERA (118.1 ip, 26 er), 40 walks and 106 strikeouts in 23 starts. Anderson went 4-1 with a 1.01 ERA (62.2 ip, 7 er) in 11 starts after the All-Star break last season. Over his three professional seasons, Anderson is 23-10 with a 2.38 ERA (328.1 ip, 87 er), 95 walks and 263 strikeouts in 59 starts.

Nicasio, 28, split the 2014 season between the Majors with Colorado and in Triple-A with Colorado Springs. For the Rockies, Nicasio went 6-6 with a 5.38 ERA (93.2 ip, 56 er), 31 walks and 63 strikeouts in 33 games/14 starts. At Triple-A, Nicasio was 3-2 with a 4.54 ERA (35.2 ip, 18 er), 15 walks and 36 strikeouts. Nicasio has pitched in the Majors for Colorado in each of the past four seasons, compiling a career mark of 21-22 with a 5.03 ERA (381.0 ip, 213 er), 135 walks and 294 strikeouts in 88 games/69 starts.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
