Mets add six to 40-man roster

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 20, 2014 - The New York Mets today announced the club selected the contracts of righthanded pitchers Noah Syndergaard, Cory Mazzoni, Hansel Robles, Gabriel Ynoa and Akeel Morris and lefthanded pitcher Jack Leathersich. The team also outrighted righthanded pitcher Jeff Walters to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. The team's 40-man roster stands at 40.

Syndergaard, 22, went 9-7 with a 4.60 ERA in 26 starts for Las Vegas last season. He also led the PCL with 145 strikeouts. 

Mazzoni, 25, combined to go 7-2 with a 4.68 ERA in 14 starts over four different levels last season. He made his season debut on June 21 after straining his right lat muscle in Spring Training.

Robles, 24, went 7-6 with a 4.31 ERA in 30 games, 18 starts, for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League.

Ynoa, 21, finished a combined 11-4 with a 4.07 ERA in 25 starts for Binghamton and St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League.

Morris, 22, went 4-1 with a 0.63 ERA in 41 relief appearances for Savannah (A) of the South Atlantic League. He led the league with 16 saves. 

Leathersich, 24, pitched in 48 combined games out of the bullpen for Las Vegas and Binghamton. He went 3-3 with a 3.31 ERA.

Walters, 27, went 3-3 with a 8.86 ERA in 23 games for Las Vegas.
