Padres acquire LHP Kyle Bartsch from Kansas City in exchange for of Reymond Fuentes

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Kyle Bartsch from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for OF Reymond Fuentes. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement. 

Bartsch, 23, spent the entire 2014 campaign with Single-A Wilmington, where he posted a 5-5 record with seven saves and a 2.29 ERA (14 ER. 55.0 IP) to go along with 52 strikeouts against 12 walks in 41 relief appearances for the Blue Rocks. A native of Hurst, Tex., Bartsch owns a career 7-6 record with 10 saves as well as a 2.35 ERA (22 ER, 84.1 IP) to go along with 89 strikeouts and 21 walks over 62 career games over parts of two minor league seasons after being selected by Kansas City in the seventh-round of the 2013 Draft out of the University of South Alabama.

Fuentes, 23, hit .293 with 15 doubles, five triples, five home runs and 33 RBI in 88 games between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso in 2014. The 6-0, 160 pound outfielder made his Major League debut with the Padres during the 2013 season, hitting .152 with an RBI and three stolen bases in 23 games.
