Blue Jays land in Kingston to unveil field of dreams at the Boys & Girls Club

On December 2, 2014, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston will unveil the West End Community HUB, made possible by a $150,000 investment from Jays Care Foundation. Blue Jays outfielder DALTON POMPEY will help lead a Blue Jays Baseball Academy Instructional Clinic for Club members.

The Toronto Blue Jays, through Jays Care Foundation, have invested $150,000 in the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston towards the West End Community Hub, a 55,000-square-foot facility featuring a full-size gymnasium, 25-metre swimming pool with slide, a dance studio, a boxing ring, an arts and crafts studio, a technology lab, a games room and more.

"The West End Community Hub will enable The Boys & Girls of Kingston to eliminate transportation and financial barriers to programming for over 200 children and youth every day," says Brendan Mohammed, Manager, Programs & Outreach, Jays Care Foundation. "We are proud to expand our relationship with The Boys & Girls Club to provide this much needed space and impact this area of Kingston."

"The Boys and Girls Club of Kingston is thrilled to part of this initiative, which will help young people to be active, develop healthy eating habits, improve academic performance and develop confidence and skills for life," says Harold Parsons, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Kingston. "As recognized leaders in after-school programming, we appreciate Jays Care Foundation's approach to this important issue and we look forward to working with them to deliver the highest quality after-school programs to children who need them most."
