White Sox Charities to commemorate Paul Konerko's career with limited edition book

Pre-order for limited edition book honoring Paul Konerko starts today

Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) will commemorate first baseman Paul Konerko's career with a limited edition book, Paul Konerko: Farewell to a Friend. The commemorative publication will be available for pre-order starting today, December 4, with proceeds benefiting CWSC.

The 50+ page book highlights Konerko's 16-year career with the White Sox, including his 14 greatest moments and a recap of his emotional final weekend in a White Sox uniform. The book will be available as a pre-order for $35 each (plus $5 shipping/handling fee) online at whitesox.com/PKbooks. Books will be shipped in late January 2015. Each advanced purchase will include a downloadable gift certificate suitable for holiday gift giving.

"Paul was a tremendous supporter of White Sox Charities throughout each year of his career with the White Sox," said Christine O'Reilly, executive director of Chicago White Sox Charities. "We are thankful for all that Paul has done for the White Sox, and this commemorative book will allow fans to remember the many moments from Paul's great career, while also supporting the organization's charitable efforts."

Proceeds from the book sale will benefit CWSC. CWSC provides annual financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those who lead the fight against cancer and are dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education and health and wellness programs, and offer support to children and families in crisis. In 2014, Chicago White Sox Charities awarded nearly $1.68 million in grants and other donations. The most recent contributions moved the team's non-profit arm to nearly $21 million in cumulative giving since its inception in 1990.

A limited number of Paul Konerko: Farewell to a Friend books is available. Fans can pre-order their book by visiting whitesox.com/PKbooks.
