Padres Announce San Antonio Missions coaching staff

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres and San Antonio Missions today announced the coaching staff for the club's Double-A affiliate for the 2015 season.

Jamie Quirk will take over as manager of the Missions in what will be his second season in the Padres organization, having served as the manager for Single-A Lake Elsinore in 2014. The 2015 campaign will be Quirk's 43rd in professional baseball, a span of time that includes a 21-year playing career from 1972-1992 and a coaching resume that includes five seasons as a bullpen coach and 14 seasons as a bench coach in the Major Leagues.

Returning to San Antonio in 2015 will be pitching coach Jimmy Jones for his seventh season in the Padres organization and his fifth-straight for the Missions (2011-15), having also served as bullpen coach for the Major League club for parts of the 2012 season. Morgan Burkhart, who served the last two seasons as the hitting coach for Single-A Fort Wayne, will assume the hitting coach duties for San Antonio in 2015.

Daniel Turner, who earned Texas League Athletic Trainer of the Year honors in 2014, will return for his ninth season with the Padres organization as will strength coach Eric Wood.
