Braves and Angels complete three-player trade
Atlanta acquires highly-touted left-handed pitcher Ricardo Sanchez
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels completed a three-player trade today, as the Braves have acquired left-handed pitcher Ricardo Sanchez in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nate Hyatt and infielder Kyle Kubitza.
Sanchez, 17, made 12 appearances (nine starts) in 2014 for the Arizona League Angels and notched a 2-2 record with a 3.49 ERA (15 ER/38.2 IP) while fanning 43 batters. Entering the 2015 season, the left-hander has been named as the second-best prospect in the Angels organization by Baseball America. The Venezuelan was originally signed by current Braves Senior Advisor to Player Development Lebi Ochoa in July of 2013 (by the Angels).
Hyatt, 24, owns a 9-7 record with a 2.88 ERA over three minor league seasons. The North Carolina native has appeared as high as High-A Lynchburg in 2014. The right-hander was drafted by the Braves in the 13th round of the 2012 draft out of Appalachian State University.
Kubitza, 24, owns a .271 batting average over four minor league seasons. The infielder has appeared as high as Double-A Mississippi and notched a .295 average last year for the M-Braves. The Texas native was drafted by the Braves in the third round of the 2011 draft out of Texas State University.
