Yankees acquire RHP Chris Martin from Colorado

The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired RHP Chris Martin from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for cash considerations.

Martin, 28, made his Major League debut with the Rockies in 2014, posting a 6.89 ERA (15.2IP, 22H, 12ER, 4BB, 14K, 2HR) in 16 relief appearances without recording a decision. In his nine road appearances, he had a 3.00 ERA (9.0IP 10H, 3ER, 2BB, 6K) and did not allow a home run. Additionally in 2014, he appeared in 25 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs, going 1-3 with a 4.39 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 26.2IP (33H, 13ER, 9BB, 36K, 2HR).

Originally signed as a minor league free agent by Boston on March 31, 2011, Martin has played five years of minor league baseball from 2010-14. Over 126 career minor league appearances (including one year with Grand Prairie of the Independent American Association in 2010), Martin owns a 19-14 record with 14 saves and a 3.09 ERA (285.2IP, 267H, 98ER, 65BB, 266K, 12HR) in 126 games (17 starts).

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have designated RHP Gonzalez Germen for assignment.
