Jays Care Foundation names Robert Witchel, Executive Director

The Toronto Blue Jays are pleased to announce that Robert Witchel has been named to the position of Executive Director of Jays Care Foundation. 

The Toronto native brings a wealth of experience to Jays Care Foundation with over 25 years of multi-disciplinary business experience in international business development, sales, marketing and operations in Canada, the US, Latin America and Europe. After extensive experience with technology and financial services companies, including Dow Jones, Reuters and E*TRADE, Robert entered the not-for-profit sector where he worked with SickKids Foundation for four years prior to joining Right To Play in December 2008, where he was the National Director, Canada, and a member of the Right To Play Global Leadership Team. In 2013, he won a scholarship to participate in the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at the Harvard Business School. Robert is also a director of a number of nonprofit boards and recently served on the Government of Ontario's Healthy Kids Panel to help reduce childhood obesity. 

As the charitable arm of Canada's only MLB team, Jays Care has made a Major League commitment to invest in Canadian children and communities from coast to coast. Since 1992, Jays Care Foundation has created opportunities for children and youth through programs that focus on helping kids get active, engage in the sport of baseball, excel academically and lead healthy lives. Jays Care Foundation has been awarded the Steve Patterson Award for Excellence in Sports Philanthropy (2014), the Beyond Sport Sports Team of the Year Award (2013) and in partnership with the Blue Jays Baseball Academy; the Blue Jays were awarded the MLB Commissioner's Award for Philanthropic Excellence (2012).

Witchel will officially take over as Executive Director of Jays Care Foundation on February 2.
