White Sox agree to terms on one-year contracts with Javy Guerra, Nate Jones and Hector Noesi, avoiding arbitration

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with right-handed pitchers Javy Guerra ($937,500), Nate Jones ($660,000) and Hector Noesi ($1.95 million), avoiding arbitration. 

Guerra, 29, went 2-4 with a 2.91 ERA (15 ER/46.1 IP), seven holds and one save in 42 relief appearances last season, his first with the White Sox. He also made 14 appearances with Class AAA Charlotte before his contract was purchased on May 20. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Guerra is 6-9 with a 2.91 ERA (48 ER/148.2 IP) and 30 saves in 143 appearances over four major-league seasons with the Dodgers (2011-13) and Chicago (2014).

Jones, 29, appeared in just two games with the White Sox last season due to hip and elbow injuries. He underwent a microdiscectomy on May 5 and ulnar collateral ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow on July 29. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Jones has gone 12-5 with a 3.55 ERA (59 ER/149.2 IP), 23 holds and 154 strikeouts in 137 appearances over three seasons with the White Sox (2012-14).

Noesi, 28, combined to go 8-12 with a 4.75 ERA (91 ER/172.1 IP) in a career-high 33 games (27 starts) between the White Sox, Texas and Seattle in 2014. He began last season with Seattle, was traded to Texas on April 12, designated for assignment on April 22 and claimed off waivers by Chicago on April 25. Noesi, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, is 12-27 with a 5.16 ERA (219 ER/363.2 IP) in 97 career games (48 starts) with the Yankees (2011), Seattle (2012-14), Texas (2014) and the White Sox (2014).

The White Sox have two remaining arbitration eligible players: catcher Tyler Flowers and right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija.
