Three minor league players suspended

          The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that three Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

          Tampa Bay Rays Minor League outfielder Spencer Edwards has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Dehydrochloromethyltestosterone and metabolite, Methasterone and metabolite, and a metabolite of Tamoxifen, performance-enhancing substances in violation of the Program. The suspension of Edwards, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Bowling Green Hot Rods of the Midwest League, will be effective at the start of the 2015 Midwest League season.

Free agent Minor League right-handed pitcher Joseph Gardner-Prophet has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Gardner-Prophet will be effective immediately upon his signing with another Major League organization.

          Cleveland Indians Minor League outfielder Brian Ruiz has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for metabolites of Methandienone and Oxandrolone, performance-enhancing substances in violation of the Program. The suspension of Ruiz, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Lake County Captains of the Midwest League, will be effective at the start of the 2015 Midwest League season.
