Colorado Rockies announce winners of the 2014 Doug Million Minor League Player of the Year and P.J. Carey Player Development Award

The Colorado Rockies announced today that infielder Correlle Prime has been named the Doug Million Minor League Player of the Year and Double-A Development Supervisor Ron Gideon is the winner of the inaugural P.J. Carey Player Development Award.

Prime spent the entirety of the 2014 season with the Single-A South Atlantic League champion Asheville Tourists, where he hit .291 (148-for-508) with 21 home runs, 47 doubles and 102 runs batted in. He was also named a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star at the conclusion of the season. In his three years as a professional, Prime has hit .288 with 66 doubles, 29 home runs and 152 RBI. The award honors late Rockies prospect Doug Million, who passed away tragically in 1997 after suffering a severe asthma attack.

The P.J. Carey Player Development Award is given to a top player development staff member in the Rockies system in honor of the beloved longtime Rockies coach, who passed away in 2012. Carey spent 13 of his 22-season Minor League managing career at the helm of the Rockies' Rookie and Single-A teams and was named Manager of the Year in 2005, 2000 and 1998. He also served as the Rockies' Major League bullpen coach in 1997.

Gideon, entering his 17th season in the Rockies organization, spent the 2014 season as the Double-A Tulsa Drillers development supervisor after serving five seasons as the Roving Field Coordinator. He was previously the manager of Double-A Tulsa (2009-2010), Double-A Carolina (2000-2001), High-A Salem (1999), Asheville (1997-1998) and Portland (1996).
