Houston will receive a PTBNL or cash considerations

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have traded infielder Dan Johnson to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

Johnson, 35, was a non-roster invite to Major League Spring Training and had appeared in 14 games with the Astros this spring. He's a veteran of nine Major League seasons, having played for Oakland (2005-08), Tampa Bay (2008, 2010-11), Chicago-AL (2012), Baltimore (2013) and Toronto (2014). Johnson was originally signed by the Astros to a minor league contract on Dec. 13, 2014.

With the trade of Johnson, the Astros Spring Training roster now stands at 40 players, including 33 players on the 40-man roster and seven non-roster invitees.
