Several Season-Long Programs Returning; GM Dayton Moore to Host Luncheon

KANSAS CITY, MO (April 3, 2015) - The American League Champion Kansas City Royals are pleased to offer the return of several season-long programs including the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat, Our Heroes Seat presented by Budweiser and the Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle. Also, on Wednesday, April 8, Royals General Manager Dayton Moore will also host a First Pitch Luncheon benefitting his C You in the Major Leagues Foundation.

 

Monday, April 6 - OPENING DAY: Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 3:10 p.m.

·        Greater Kansas City Day - The Royals team up with more than 1,200 volunteers to sell a special Royals edition of The Kansas City Star throughout the city. New for 2015, American League Champion flags will also be sold at Kansas City area Hy-Vee locations from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. In addition, a First Pitch Party featuring live music, coffee, donuts, flag sales and appearances by Royals and Chiefs alumni will be held at the Kansas City Star Press Pavilion, 16th & McGee, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Proceeds from the sales help send kids to Rotary Youth Camp and support other deserving children's charities. Royals Hall of Famer Willie Wilson is serving as honorary co-chair of the 28th annual fundraiser.

·        Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat Program Returns - The Royals begin the ninth year of the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat program by honoring former Vice President-Baseball Operations and Assistant General Manager Dean Taylor, an integral part of the 2014 American League Championship Front Office. During each Royals home game, honorees are recognized during the pregame ceremony and enjoy the game from "Buck's seat" behind home plate of Kauffman Stadium. FOX Sports Kansas City will again partner with the Royals by featuring Buck Seat honorees during FSKC home telecasts. The Royals invite fans throughout the Midwest to nominate individuals they feel are worthy of filling "Buck's seat" by visiting www.royals.com/buckseat.  

·        50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - The fan favorite Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle is coming back for another season and will be held throughout every Royals home game. Royals Charities staffers will continue to sell raffle tickets from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening's net proceeds. The other half will be donated to Royals Charities. www.royals.com/5050.

·        Our Heroes Presented by Budweiser - The Royals and Budweiser will salute a member of the military during each home game by providing complimentary tickets and a special in-game recognition. Fans are encouraged to nominate an active or retired military member by visiting www.royals.com/ourheroes.

·        Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. Unique auctions will take place during each game of this series.

 

Tuesday, April 7 - Off Day

 

Wednesday, April 8 - Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·       First Pitch Luncheon - Royals General Manager Dayton Moore's C You in the Major Leagues Foundation will host a First Pitch Luncheon presented by FOX Sports Kansas City, co-sponsored by Bob Allen Ford and The Dan Dees Family. Current Royals players and coaches, along with several members of the Royals Alumni Association, will join Moore at the fundraising event in the North Club at Arrowhead Stadium. Proceeds will benefit the foundation's four bases: youth baseball, families in crisis, education and faith-based programs. Moore's foundation is also donating a portion of the proceeds from the event to Royals Charities. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting at noon. A limited number of individual tickets remain and can be purchased at www.cyitml.com.
