Braves set 2015 Opening Day roster

Club set to open campaign at Miami on Monday

MIAMI, Fla. - The Atlanta Braves today officially set their 25-man roster for Opening Day. The Braves purchased the contracts of right-handed pitcher Cody Martin, left-handed pitcher Eric Stults and outfielders Kelly Johnson and Eric Young, Jr. Two players will switch uniform numbers, including Martin (57) and infielder Jace Peterson (8).

The Braves roster includes four rookies, including Martin, Peterson, right-handed pitcher Juan Jaime and left-handed pitcher Andrew McKirahan. Fourteen players are donning a Braves uniform for the first time in their career.

In addition, the Braves placed a total of five players on the disabled list. Left-handed pitcher Mike Minor was placed on the 15-day DL (left shoulder inflammation), as well as outfielders Melvin Upton, Jr. (sesamoiditis in left foot), and Joey Terdoslavich (left wrist sprain, retroactive to April 2). Two pitchers were placed on the 60-day disabled list including right-handers Shae Simmons and Dan Winkler, who are both recovering from "Tommy John" surgery.

Right-handed pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and outfielder Dian Toscano were both placed on the restricted list.

The Braves open the 2015 campaign, their 50th in Atlanta, on Monday, April 6, at the Miami Marlins (4:10 p.m. ET, SportSouth). Right-handed pitcher Julio Teheran will make his second straight Opening Day start for Atlanta.

The season-opening roster includes 13 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and four outfielders:

Jim Johnson (RH), Craig Kimbrel (RH), Cody Martin (RH), Andrew McKirahan (LH),

CATCHERS (2): Christian Bethancourt and A.J. Pierzynski

INFIELDERS (6): Alberto Callaspo, Freddie Freeman, Phil Gosselin, Chris Johnson, Jace Peterson and Andrelton Simmons

OUTFIELDERS (4): Jonny Gomes, Kelly Johnson, Nick Markakis and Eric Young, Jr.
