Indians promote Adams & Marcum from Columbus; C Yan Gomes on 15-day disabled list; Option LHP Kyle Crockett to AA Columbus

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Purchased the contract of RHP SHAUN MARCUM (#38) from the AAA Columbus Clippers.

Recalled RHP AUSTIN ADAMS from AAA Columbus.

Placed C YAN GOMES on the 15-day Disabled List with a right knee sprain.

Optioned LHP KYLE CROCKETT to AAA Columbus.

Released RHP CHARLES BREWER.

Marcum, 33, was recently assigned to the AAA Columbus roster, but has yet to appear in a game for the Clippers. This spring with Cleveland he went 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 3 games/1 start (7.0IP, 6H, 1R/ER, 0BB, 2SO, .231AVG). Marcum spent the 2013 season in the Cleveland organization rehabbing from July 2013 right shoulder surgery and finished the season with a 2.35 ERA in 8 games at Columbus (15.1IP, 10H, 4ER). His last Major League appearance came with the New York Mets on July 6, 2013.

Adams has yet to appear in a game this season after opening the season with Cleveland before being optioned to AAA Columbus on April 10 and recalled this morning. 

Gomes was injured during the 9th inning of yesterday's game vs. Detroit at a play at home plate. Today marks his second career stint on the Major League D.L. So far in 5 games this season he is 3-for-20 with a double and 2 runs scored.
