Parking and transportation advisory for weekend Padres games vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today issued a parking and transportation advisory for this weekend's games vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. With large crowds expected to be heading to Petco Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday, fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early.

As a reminder, as part of a Major League Baseball initiative to strengthen and standardize security practices across the League, walk-through metal detectors have been installed at all Petco Park entry gates and access points. All fans must be screened as they enter the ballpark, with no exceptions. As in years past, fans will continue to have their bags checked by ballpark security staff prior to reaching entry gates. Dedicated lines for guests without bags are available at all four major entry gates.

Fans should expect and plan for increased traffic and parking delays when coming to Petco Park. Development is currently underway in the area formerly known as the Parcel C parking lot (Park Blvd. and Imperial Ave.), resulting in the loss of more than 500 parking spaces in the ballpark district.

All guests are strongly encouraged to pre-purchase parking online at www.padres.com/transportation. Doing so will guarantee their spot in a Padres-preferred lot at a discounted rate. Padres-preferred parking lots are expected to fill quickly. Off-site public parking will be available at the following primary locations: Horton Plaza Garage, 707 Broadway Garage, Convention Center Garage and Bayfront Hilton Garage.

To avoid additional traffic delays, fans should consider utilizing public transportation. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will offer additional "Special Event" trolley service from Qualcomm Stadium (with 5,000 free parking spots) and Mission Valley stations to the ballpark area. All three Trolley Lines-Green, Blue and Orange-offer direct service to Petco Park and increased service following the game. The North County Transit District (NCTD) will offer extra Coaster trains serving all north coastal communities. Free parking is available at all North County Coaster stations and RegionPlus Day fares include free trolley connections. After the game, a northbound Coaster train will leave Santa Fe Depot 60 minutes after the last out.
