White Sox designate Javy Guerra for assignment

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Javy Guerra from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte, reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.

Guerra, 29, was placed on the disabled list on April 20 (retroactive to April 13) with right shoulder inflammation and posted a 17.18 ERA (7 ER/3.2 IP) in four games with Charlotte on his rehab assignment. He has appeared in three games with the White Sox this season, going 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (1.2 IP). 

Guerra was 2-4 with a 2.91 ERA (15 ER/46.1 IP) and 38 strikeouts in 42 relief outings with Chicago in 2014.

The White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 39.
