White Sox recall Carlos Sanchez from Class AAA Charlotte

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game at Oakland, the Chicago White Sox recalled infielder Carlos Sanchez from Class AAA Charlotte. Sanchez, 22, takes the roster spot of infielder Micah Johnson, who yesterday was optioned to Charlotte.

Sanchez batted .344 (45-131) with 10 doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in 29 games with the Knights this season. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound switch-hitter ranks second in the International League in hits, tied for third in doubles and fifth in average.

A native of Maracay, Venezuela, Sanchez was named IL Player of the Week for the periods of April 13-19 and April 27-May 3. He went 5-5 with two doubles on May 1 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and 4-4 with a double, two home runs and seven RBI the following night.

Sanchez made the White Sox Opening Day roster, going 2-3 in his only appearance on April 8 at Kansas City, before being optioned to Charlotte on April 11. He batted .250 (25-100) in 28 games with the Sox in 2014.
