KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has placed left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy on the 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis, which is retroactive to May 17. He will be eligible for reinstatement on June 1.

To take Duffy's spot on the 25-man roster, the Royals have recalled left-handed pitcher Brandon Finnegan from Triple-A Omaha. Finnegan, 22, has made four appearances with the Royals this season, going 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (2 ER in 6.2 IP).

The Royals also sent outfielder Alex Rios on his rehab assignment with Omaha, which begins a four-game series with Tacoma at 12:05 this afternoon. Rios has been on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left hand since April 14.
