A's reinstate IF/OF Zobrist from the DL; Option OF Gentry to Nashville

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's reinstated infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist from the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Craig Gentry to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.

Zobrist was placed on the 15-day DL April 25 with a left medial meniscus tear. He was hitting .240 with a home run and eight RBI in 14 games at the time of the injury. Zobrist had surgery April 28 to perform a medial meniscal debridement of his left knee and began a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton last Tuesday. He went 2-for-6 (.333) in two games with the Ports and 3-for-10 (.300) in three games with Triple-A Nashville for a .313 average with three RBI and two walks in five games overall.

Gentry was recalled from Nashville May 17 for his second stint with the A's this year but appeared in just one game, going 0-for-3 in a start in left field last Wednesday at Houston. He is batting .079 in 17 games overall with the A's.
