Cards 1st baseman Matt Adams placed on 15-day D.L.

Catcher Ed Easley recalled from Memphis (AAA)

ST. LOUIS, Mo., May 27, 2015 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that first baseman Matt Adams (strained right quad) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and that catcher Ed Easley has been recalled from Memphis (AAA).

Easley, 29, was on the team's roster for a brief three-game stint April 10-12 while Tony Cruz was away on paternity leave.   He has yet to appear in a Major League game.

The right-handed hitting Easley was batting .295 (31-for-105) with three home runs and 18 RBI and a .422 on-base pct. in 33 games for Memphis. He has enjoyed a solid month of May, batting .340 (17-for-50).

Easley was batting .432 (11-for-26) vs. left-handed pitching and .351 (13-for-37) with runners in scoring position for the Triple-A Redbirds who recently had an eight-game winning streak. 

A veteran of 679 career minor league games, Easley wears uniform no. 23.
