Royals Charities Golf Tournament to Precede Homestand

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 29, 2015) - Before the Kansas City Royals host the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers, Royals Charities will host its annual golf tournament during the off day on June 1. In addition, first baseman Eric Hosmer will host a group from Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City on June 3 and left fielder Alex Gordon will support the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation kicking off Midwest Lemonade Days at local Hy-Vee stores June 5 and 6. Monday, June 1 - Off Day

·        Royals Charities Celebrity Golf Tournament - Royals Charities hosts the eighth annual Royals Charities Celebrity Golf Tournament featuring current and former Royals at the Shadow Glen Golf Course in Olathe, Kan. Current Royals scheduled to participate include shortstop Alcides Escobar, pitcher Greg Holland, third baseman Mike Moustakas and catcher Salvador Perez. Sprint and DEMDACO serve as sponsors of this sold-out tournament, and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics KC Metro. The private event will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Following the tournament, all golfers and celebrities will take part in an exclusive reception.

·        Royals Charities Ring Sweepstakes - Fans have one final day to try to get their very own authentic 2014 American League Champions ring! To enter, fans can log onto www.royals.com/ring and make a $10 donation. Fans will automatically receive one entry for each $10 donation (up to ten times). The sweepstakes closes at 11:59 p.m. Monday, and the winner will be announced live on June 5 during the game broadcast on FOX Sports Kansas City. ·        Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

·        Hosmer hosts Big Brothers, Big Sisters - Eric Hosmer will host 30 participants from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City program. The first baseman will meet the group before the game.

 

Thursday, June 4 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

 

Friday, June 5 - Texas Rangers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

·        Gordon Kicks Off Lemonade Sales - Outfielder Alex Gordon will support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Midwest Lemonade Days at all area Hy-Vee stores and other locations. Volunteers will sell lemonade to raise money for childhood cancer research. Gordon, a dedicated supporter of ALSF for the past several years, has participated in several programs to benefit the foundation. For more information, visit www.royals.com/lemonade

·        Moose Lodge - Third baseman Mike Moustakas, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Moose Lodge. Each child from Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association will receive complimentary tickets in section 206, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas before the game.

·        Ring Sweepstakes Winner Announced - The winner of the Royals Charities American League Champions Ring Sweepstakes will be announced live on FOX Sports Kansas City during the game.

·        50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - A portion of the proceeds from the Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit Children's Emergency Fund. www.royals.com/5050.

·        Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. Unique auctions will take place during each game of this series.

 

Saturday, June 6 - Texas Rangers vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

·        Scott's MLB Pitch, Hit & Run - Young baseball and softball players take the Kauffman Stadium field from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to compete in the team championship of the Scott's MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition. 

·        Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. Unique auctions will take place during each game of this series.

 

Sunday, June 7 - Texas Rangers vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

·        UMPS CARE - The Royals partner with Major League Baseball umpires to offer memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and at-risk youth in mentoring programs. The children receive a VIP experience including complimentary tickets, a baseball goody bag, and the unique opportunity to step onto the field for a souvenir baseball and photo.

·        Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. Unique auctions will take place during each game of this series.
