White Sox announce upcoming series events

The Chicago White Sox announce promotional highlights, giveaways and ceremonial first pitches for the upcoming series vs. the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros.  

Tickets for all games are available at whitesox.com, the U.S. Cellular Field ticket office (Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.) or by calling 866-SOX-GAME. Season ticket packages are available for purchase by calling 312-674-1000.

Friday, June 5, 7:10 p.m. vs. Detroit

• Italian Heritage Night and Fireworks, presented by Beggars Pizza

Fans have the opportunity to enjoy Italian entertainment as the White Sox host Italian Heritage Night, presented by Beggars Pizza. Singer Peter Oprisko will perform an on-field performance in celebration of Italian Heritage Night and the National Anthem. Fans are invited to stop by the Italian Heritage Night party shop in Section 159 to purchase Italian flags and other items. The postgame fireworks presentation will also feature Italian music.

A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Emmy Award-winning actor LeVar Burton. Burton is best known for his roles in the 1977 ABC television miniseries "Roots" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation." He also hosted the long-running PBS children's series "Reading Rainbow." Burton portrayed Ron LeFlore - who played for both the Tigers and White Sox - in the CBS movie "One In A Million: The Ron LeFlore Story." He will be accepting the Chicago Tribune Young Adult Literary Award at this year's Chicago Tribune Printers Row Lit Fest, taking place on June 6-7. Burton will have media availability prior to the game at 6:40 p.m.

Friday Night Trivia in the Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar begins at 7:30 p.m. Teams of two to six fans can compete in three rounds of trivia for the chance to win all-inclusive Home Plate Club tickets to a future 2015 White Sox game. Fans must be 21 or older and have a ticket to the game to enter the Miller Lite Bullpen Sports Bar.

Saturday, June 6, 6:15 p.m. vs. Detroit

A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by a special "baseball bot" - a Fanuc robotic arm - on behalf of Pepsi. The robot represents more than 40 amazing robots featured in the Museum of Science and Industry's new exhibit, Robot Revolution, supported by Google.org.

In celebration of Southpaw's 11^th birthday, the White Sox Wives and White Sox Volunteer Corps will host Southpaw's Birthday Toy Drive. Fans are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to drop-off locations at any gate at U.S. Cellular Field. All donated toys will be given to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Families from Ronald McDonald House also will be hosted in a suite during the game to celebrate Southpaw's birthday. Southpaw will be joined by Chicago Sky, Chicago Bears, Northwestern University and DePaul University mascots.

Family Sunday, presented by The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, offers tickets as low as $5 in the Upper Level and $15 in the Lower Level with $10 parking. Entertainment includes children's running the bases postgame (weather permitting), face painters, balloonists, a caricature artist and magnet art. Fans also will have the opportunity to show off their pitching skills at the Bulls/Sox Academy's speed pitch inflatable at Gate 5. Kids (ages 10 and under) can also eat free off the kid's menu at ChiSox Bar and Grill. Additional information is available at whitesox.com/Sundays.

The White Sox will support Strike Out Stroke with Strike Out Stroke Day. Four stroke survivors will be recognized in a pregame ceremony and with a ceremonial first pitch by one of the survivors. Volunteers from Strike Out Stroke also will be handing out magnets at the gates and giving away T-shirts and magnets at Sections 116/117 and 157/158 in support of the F.A.S.T. campaign, which promotes quick detection of strokes.

Miller Lite Extra Base is a renovated club area located down the left field line. This climate-controlled space, which is equipped with a bar and patio area, is open to the public (all fans age 21 and over with a game ticket) when it is not rented by a group. This is the first season of the club area's open access for general admission fans ages 21 and over.

My Morning Jacket will join keyboardist Bo Koster on the field for a ceremonial first pitch. My Morning Jacket is an indie rock band with seven studio album releases. Its most recent album, "The Waterfall," was released on May 4, 2015 and peaked at No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

The Chicago White Sox honor members of the United States Navy at the 2015 Navy Night. A special pregame ceremony will include 88 Naval Recruits from throughout the Chicagoland area being sworn into the Navy on the field at the ballpark. Commanding Officer Todd Bruemer will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on behalf of the Navy. The White Sox is one of only two Major League Clubs to host a Navy Recruit Division enlistment. This is the 30^th consecutive year that the White Sox have hosted Navy Recruit Division that will be known as the Chicago White Sox Division.

Spirito! will perform the National Anthem. This choral organization comprised of two distinct choirs, which are open to young women in Elmhurst, La Grange, Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Western Springs, Downers Grove, Melrose Park and many Chicagoland other western suburbs.

A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by current World Boxing Association Super Welterweight Champion Erislandy Lara. The Cuban boxer also won the gold medal at the World Amateur Championships for the welterweight division. Lara will fight against Delvin Rodriguez at the UIC Pavillion on Friday, June 12 as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.
